Is Assembly Speaker Nunez Complicit with HP's Mayor John Noguez and City Attorney
Leal?
Sacramento, CA, - The big news from the State Capitol during last week's state Democratic gathering was focused around
the nomination of gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides.
Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez was at the helm of the event. Nunez has friends in high places. Last weekend also saw the
Assembly Speaker at an At&T sponsored Pebble Beach fundraiser for the state Democratic party that netted $1.7 million.
These are the big stories that the media covers. Not covered by the media is Assembly member Nunez's association with
friends in low places.
Nunez is Huntington Park's State Assembly representative.
He will be termed out in 2009. Guess who is being groomed to run as a favorite candidate? Huntington Park's very own
Mayor John Noguez, with the help of City Attorney Francisco Leal.
All three are buddies. Escareno, HP's past mayor, was convicted for "Grand theft". He was Noguez's roommate and
campaign manager who spearheaded the selection of Leal as city attorney in a closed door session.
Nunez called Noguez and Escareno "Friends and men of honor" in 2003 at Noguez's campaign kickoff in Leonardo's
Restaurant.
