| Maywood City Council went along hoping to go Charter Spaccia, Rizzo and ED Lee sabotaged Maywood so Bell could take over; $51,000 per Month Bell Charging to Manage Maywood does not include $10,000 for Spaccia |
| The Editor, WatchOurCity.com Wednesday August 11, 2010, 6:00 am Reporter's Notebook: Maywood & Bell - Bell selected which Maywood officers to pay vacation time upon separation. Legally must be paid within 72 hours. Some have not received any pay yet. • Some officers did not receive a final check. Spaccia ordered not to pay them. • Maywood was planning to go Charter enabling Maywood council to vote for $100k salaries just like in Bell. • Spaccia and Ed Lee sabotaged Maywood's need for insurance triggering a face-off with Joint Powers Insurance Authority so that Bell could take over contracts for profit. • Conflict of interest for Spaccia and Lee who represent Maywood when negotiating with Bell since they were being paid by Bell. • Spaccia failed to negotiate with the City of Cudahy. Contract for police services would have put Maywood on a solid financial platform with no need for layoffs. Maywood saved net $156,000 from its budget with Bell's takeover. • Spaccia lied to Maywood employees, said no one would be laid off. Two weeks later the whole department was disbanded. |
