District Attorney opens "Preliminary Investigation" into
John Noguez, allegedly failed to legally change his name
from "Juan Rodriguez" to "John Noguez"

Huntington Park, CA - On September 10, County Supervisor Michael Antonovich forwarded a
complaint on his official letterhead to the District Attorney's office "concerning the
allegations against Mr. John R. Noguez", "for his review and appropriate action".

The letter is in response to a complaint that John R. Noguez is really Juan Rodriguez.

John Noguez is the mayor of Huntington Park, a city adjacent to Bell, and is in a runoff race
against Mr. John Wong for the L.A. County Assessor's office this November 2.

On September 24, 2010, Jennifer Lentz Snyder, Assistant Head Deputy of the D.A.'s Public
Integrity Division, responded to Antonovich's letter stating the following:

The complaint stems from an investigative report by Jeffrey Anderson published by the L.A.
Weekly on February 7, 2007 (see report here "
Name Game in Huntington Park - Records
show that rising star mayor John Noguez is really Juan Rodriguez").

Jeffrey Anderson notes:

endorsed Huntington Park

"We received correspondence from the office of Supervisor Antonovich
that included a complaint alleging that John R. Noguez, a candidate for
Los Angeles County Assessor, is really Juan Reynaldo Rodriguez, and
has never really changed his name. It is not a crime to use another
name unless the intention is to use another name unless your intention
is to commit fraud. Consequently, we will open a preliminary review of
this matter to determine whether there is any evidence of fraud
separate and apart from the use of another name. You will be notified
when the process has reached a conclusion."
"But the name Noguez does not appear on his birth certificate, which
states that Juan Renaldo Rodriguez was born on November 29, 1964, to
Jesus Rodriguez, a gardener from Mexico, and to Carmen Anaya, also
from Mexico."

"While his birth certificate identifies him clearly as Juan Renaldo
Rodriguez, he has used the two first names, John and Juan, at different
times and for different purposes. Often, he signs as Juan R. Noguez, as
he did on the affidavit and nominating papers he filed in 2006 to run for
re-election."

"He used Juan “John” R. Noguez on his statement of economic interests
that same year. However, he is registered to vote as John R. Noguez,
and for business statements and property deeds reviewed by the
Weekly, he is listed as John Noguez."

"Once, he also rejected the first name John. In a 2005 lawsuit arising
from a property dispute, his mother, listed in court documents as Maria
Carmen Anaya Noguez, and his brother, listed as Henry Rodriguez, sued
him as John Noguez. In response to the lawsuit, Noguez’s attorney filed
papers in court stating that Juan R. Noguez was “sued erroneously as
John Noguez.”
